Sitting in the coffee and tea area after the show...

Chris Evans | 11:40 UK time, Friday, 28 October 2011

...Still buzzing from the energy that is Russell Grant. I've met him before loads of times, but he's different nowadays.

Not only that, but I've never actually talked to him properly before.

From a selfish point of view, I realised there's absolutely no need to fear approaching sixty. Russell arrived at that particular station earlier this year, yet looks a good decade younger.

Keep the heart young and the body will have no choice but to fall into line.

Oooh, I think I just heard the title of Monday morning's show ringing in my ears.

Peace and Love and Keep Dancing.

    Morning all

    lovely bright day today
had a great evening at the races, and came home with more than I started with - one lucky flutter on a horse with a great sounding name!

I would like to say that I am sleeping for the extra hour but what I will actually be doing is fitting more into my Sunday, no rest for the wicked!

    Afternoon Chris,

Loved hearing Russell this morning. What a ray of sunshine he is - Lynn's comment was very apt.

Hi Csn - hope things are getting better with building work and redecorating.

    Have a great weekend folks!

So we have to do this in chunks again ......

    Hey lovelies!

I agree Chris - Russell Grant seems to have calmed down a bit of late, and I never knew he was 60. That's impressive!

To me, age is just a number. Yes, I crunch and crack a bit more these days, and there are wrinkles starting to form but (bad days aside) on the whole I am surrounded by love in one way or another. We always endeavour to laugh every day, share every day and embrace every day together - I think that will keep us feeling like a pair of dopey teenagers for a good few years to come!

The networking doooodah went well last night - I was doing a SWOT analysis at 9.30 last night whilst watching the excellent Elbow concert on the red button. Stuff to do today when I get home too - some of my business stuff, some CiN stuff and even some ChezNic weekend stuff.

    So much stuff.

Really looking forward to seeing everyone 3 weeks today for CiN. If only I knew what to wear .....

    Hi everyone,

I'm sorry I missed Russell, really enjoying his enthusiasm on SCD just now.

Going out tonight to my friend's son's - belated 18th and passing out (Army), and going away again - party, should be fun.

Happy 18th also to Master MTF.

Hope everyone has a great time at the York meet this weekend, I so wish we could have been there but we just can't afford it this time - never mind.

    Have a good weekend everyone.

Hi Chris: the show was fab this morning, but only heard it until 8am, so I missed Russell. Will most definitely listen on iplayer over the weekend!

    Hi everyone:

Hope you are all fine this lovely, but very cold, Friday!

Baggy: well done on beating the bookies!

Happy 18th birthday to young Mr MTF!

Cheryl: you are sounding on top form - very busy, but it all sounds good!

Gail: enjoy the party - an 18th ... could be noisy! But have fun!

AliB: to answer your question from the previous blog - I am seeing my sister tomorrow - little bit of retail therapy, and then home to her's for a delicious lunch (I know it will be delicious, she's such a good cook!). Sunday, MrS and I have a day of chores, and the delights of the orange hardware store to attend to. I wonder if we could also pop along to the local for a quick lemonade ...! How about you, what do you have planned?

    Hi Chris,

Russell is fab, although all that astrology stuff, IMHO, is mumbo jumbo; doesn't stop me loving him in Strictly though.

Happy Birthday Young Mr MTF xx 18 eh, I'd been working for two years by then!

Chrissie, Thanks for filling me in on your weekend, sounds lovely. Do let me know what she cooks for lunch.

I am officially on holiday as of 2:30 today - hooray. Although I am not going away next week, I am trying very hard to not get involved in anything that I might usually do! Apart from tonight, when I have Street Pastors! Sunday I am meeting friends for lunch and then a couple of days next week decorating my bathroom, and the rest of the time I shall be chillaxing. I am planning to spend Monday in my PJ's :)

Have a super duper weekend everyone xx

    Hello CE & Everyone.

Russell is certainly looking good for sixty CLP. I love dancing but, unfortunately, my lungs packed up at sixty three. The strange thing is though that even though I get completely out of breath walking I can still dance. Is this the power of the music that keeps me going?

I'm presently endeavouring to have my water/heating timer unit replaced as when I switch one on the other one comes on, etc. After a number of phone calls somebody arrived last Monday, he had a look and said "I'm not qualified to do the job" and said someone would phone. I phoned again and was told someone came out on the 18th. "No" I replied "Someone came out on Monday 24th who wasn't qualified". They insisted that someone had been on 18th. I began to wonder if without realising it I was getting forgetful and then it struck me. Down the road are sheltered bungalows with the same address but Close instead of Road. I called back "What address have you got" I asked. "Close" she said. "Do you want me to cancel this?". "Well yes" I replied "as I don't live there, I live at Road" "We will send someone to do the repair on Friday pm" she told me. He's been, the same man who called on Monday who is still unqualified, he again said someone would phone to arrange a time. Bingo phoned them this time "Why have you done a repeat of what happened on Monday? he asked. He was told that the job had been done. He had the usual conversation telling them we are not Close, them insisting that we are. The latest is that I should have had a phone call at 2 0'clock. Have I? NO!

Wish me luck as I now call them yet again!

    MM xxx

PS The little old lady who lives at the Close is a lovely person but sadly she has dementia (I often pass her on my scooter when is talking to shrubs) and my thinking is that they have probably fitted my timer unit at her address.

  • Comment number 16.

    Hello Again.

Well it's nearly two hours since I phoned and had to explain the lot all over again and was assured that someone would call me back within ten minutes. What a surprise!!!!! No one did and we have to continue with this nonsense on Monday!

Hang on in there Maddy! Nic is currently drawing swords with one of the big energy providers and getting nowhere fast ....

Meant to say, CLP, I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo jealous of your outing to Strictly tomorrow. Will look out for you on the tellybox - see if you can outdo LynneB for being on the box more than Brucie!

The very best of luck to Nic with the big energy provider, hope he wins the battle.

    BARRY!?!?!?! Where? When?

*breathes into paper bag to stop hyperventilation from occurring*

Nic gave up with "them" in the end and is awaiting a call back, so given the time and the fact that it's Friday, he's now being Lewis Hamilton on the Wii.

This week has been really odd. I can honestly say that in my work-life, I have never, ever been as low as I was on Monday and Tuesday (even the dark days of portacabin hell for those of you who were around 5 years ago ...!). But since Wednesday a corner has been turned and I feel that I've learnt loads of new stuff this week, met some good contacts and have a plan for the future.

    And it feels nice!

As for the immediate future, the heating is on (as are my slippers!), the curry is gently simmering - filling the house with a divine coconutty spiceness, and the wine is just waiting for Ole Lewis in the next room to finish his session ....... drinking and driving is strictly a no no, even on the Wii!

Tomorrow we're off to the big indoor water park in Stoke with MiniNic. I was happy for daddy and son to go it alone but they are insistent I go with them to share the joy of screaming kids, crowded changing rooms and over-zealous teenagers! But they do have a jacuzzi .....

... and I have some headache tablets for later!

    Hi everyone:

I didn't get the chance to get back on the blog this afternoon - just want to wish everyone attending the York Meet tomorrow a really lovely time.

PiP: will be thinking of you, and indeed, all your lovely friends. Hope everyone has a great time.

Maddy: you are going through the wars - hang in there. xx

Have to say, I am utterly distraught (!) that we up here in the wilderness will not be getting Mr Manilow this evening. Who knows why: we are getting something fairly pointless and rubbish. Of course, S*V will not pay the money for the lovely Barry. However, my knight in shining armour (a.k.a. Mr S), has suggested a kitchen party with the best of Barry ... here goes! Her name was Lola ... etc!

    Have a lovely weekend, all.

Glad to hear you had an apology.

Don't read this bit Chrissie - Mr Manilow always looks like he's having a good time. Looks like a man with a good sense of humour

Chrissie, hope you're enjoying your kitchen party. Much more sociable than boringly watching TV

I've been down in Exeter, with my Daughter, trying to do some retail therapy. A bit too busy for my liking and actually did better in the smaller town of Tiverton on the way back.

Then there was the way back...... on the back of a break down truck. A new engineer this time, one I hadn't met before!!

    Hi Annie.

Glad you're OK, I was wondering how you are as you said you felt poorly whilst driving. I've just had my tea but describing any symptoms is OK by me unless I'm eating carrot cake. I thought I had indigestion whilst eating one which turned out to be a heart attack. It put me off carrot cake for good.

Anyway, I'm glad you're feeling better and look after yourself and rest.

Debs, love the idea of saving the hour for tomorrow! Wish I'd thought of it earlier. I think I'd completely confuse myself if I tried to change my time now!

Annie, Didn't you buy the card I made for CiN last year? If so, you've probably put it somewhere safe!!

Right, bit of lippy and a brush through the hair needed before I venture out otherwise they'll think the tricky treaters have arrived early!

Hell's Teeth Sezza - you might have reminded me sooner!! Now I'll have to look for it and put it somewhere safe for next year. Double bums.

Maddy, the lurgy started on Tuesday evening, lasted all of Wednesday and Thursday, wore off a bit on Friday so I could look after the 6yr old and 1yr old, then came back with a vengeance yesterday. I blame the 2yr old - she had it the week before (well, I have to blame someone). All better now and I'm looking at the red wine - do you think a wee glass would help?

    Good morning all,

I have a very busy day ahead today so I thought I'd get my post done early.

Got back from our York meet tonight ,a bit late but back. We've had a fantastic time ,getting there on Friday and meeting up with the lovely Crumpy and having a meal and a catch up .
Then we had a nice leisurely stroll ,I do love to stroll ,far better than rushing don't you think around the little lanes of york .we found our way up to the minster and into the gardens of the minster where there was on of the light shows going on ,a bit on the spooky side as there was this smoke that was blowing up and then there was this music on in the background and some one telling tales.not for the faint hearted ,but great fun if you weren't and a fantastic atmosphere.

Next day up and out early ,a bit or retail you know ,and Sezza I wish you'd have said earlier about them there watches ,as I went and treated myself to a new watch in York,my old one needs a battery. next time eh!!! .
while out we came across a little square with bit of a garden ,a few trees and shrubs .In the garden was a man with some animal gages and was showing ,a beautiful white owl ,so elegant ,and he also had a hawk ,beautiful animals.also in the square was a set that was all rigged up for the children to go bungee jumping ,it was great.
york also has a lovely Market ,so had to purchase a couple of items as you do ,had to go and spend all that cost GD and myself 80pence just for "p**s,and it was one of those lavs that when you stand up it self flushes ,and the seats rotate, not seen one of those before ,so that's another first..

spent some love time with the group ,and I must tell you all that Pip is looking very radiant at the moment and is now very much looking forward to her.delivery.It was so nice just to sit and chat and catch up and talk to the peeps that you haven't had the chance to before .
The food was excellent and very very tasty and very seasonal hats of the chef ,and of course a few drinks were consumed and I think my daughter was one of those .

After our evening we all headed off to the Castle Museum as they had a light show them this year ,last year it was at the Minster.
Well I've sen light shows but this one was absolutely brilliant,it was allbased really on today's technology and engineering, ust like what you would see on your computer ,but this was on the facade of the museum..
And that was a perfect end to a pefect day.

Met up with Crumpy and Girlracer this morning and did inside of the museum before we had to go our seperate ways ,but once again had a lovely time with some super people ..Thank you one annd all...

Annie: nice to see you - I was wondering where you were. Sorry to hear you have not been well - try to take it easy this week, if you can. xx
