Alrighttttt whackkkkkk !

Chris Evans | 10:03 UK time, Wednesday, 7 October 2009

In Liverpooooool. Stayed at a golf resort last night. Arrived there late, left early - no golf. Now that is wrong.

In the gym early followed by a light breakfast. Will I make my Jonathan Ross Show ideal weight of 12 st 10 ? Probably not, but I have a new jacket which should just about sort out those extra pounds around the girth. Jowl-wise, I will just have to rely on the make up lady and an artistic bit of shading. All the tricks my loves.

Good fun signing again yesterday. Met more blogettes along with the mighty Rips.

bloggers-071009-600.jpg

L - R: Mwk, dreamurdream, chrisses, Rips.

Also yesterday evening in Newcastle - susanb55

bloggers2-071009-600.jpg

Also been doing a ton of money-can't-buy audience research. Lots of people sad and sorry to see us leave Drivetime, but equally as happy to hear us in the morning. My over riding impression of all the listeners I have met though is how decent and positive they are - not to mention exceptionally polite.

Alright schedule today:

Billy Butler Show Radio Merseyside, Juice Fm!, a signing in Liverpool; then shooting a scene for a movie - playing myself; before finally off to Birmingham.

Home tonight, meeting with 麻豆社2 tomorrow re new tv project, warehouse signing in London in the afternoon, gym and then Jonny Ross.

Mange tout mes amis.

Thank you for making it so special - it will go down as one of my most memorable top ten days! ;o) I have started the book won鈥檛 say to much so that I don鈥檛 spoil it for the others. You are absolutely gorgeous Chris 鈥 inside and out! Love you lots xx Hope you enjoyed your goodie bag! Xx

ChrissieS and I had a brilliant day and it got off to a great start when this gorgeous man came up to us in the que and asked if we were 鈥淢ary and ChrissieS.鈥濃︹︹ rather nervously said yes and then he introduced himself.....it was the delightful Rips! CLP got it spot on, you are a 鈥渢op man鈥 鈥 a true gent, thank you for the refreshment, it went down a treat ;o) xx

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for posting our photograph on the blog! It was so exciting to meet you yesterday, I really felt like a teenager again! You are just so lovely, and you were wonderful with us loyal Bloggers!

Thanks to everyone on the blog who sent the Glasgow Four your good wishes. It was terrific to meet Rips and Dreamer - both of them are just lovely. You can't see from the photograph, but trust me, Rips has gorgeous eyes - he's a bit of a babe actually!

On the subject of Rips: thank you so much for paying for our drinks - you wee Sneaky Pete! Mary and I sipped our wine for ages, and then asked for the bill, only to be told it had already been paid! Thanks for being so thoughtful. x

Dreamer: I hope you make sure you have Copyright on your clever idea!

Well done to Susan getting the courage to meet Chris on her own, and of course well done to the girls in Manchester - isn't Chris just the greatest guy?

For the record, he is very tall, and skinny as a rake! We're talking skinny! And he's gorgeous - ooooh, I've come over all funny!

To everyone else still to meet him, I am so jealous! Enjoy your time with him, you are going to love it!

Wow, Christoph, I love seeing the photees of the lucky bloggers and of course yourself! Looking forward to the JR show on Friday and don't think you need to worry about any extra pounds, you are what you are and in any case TV apparently adds 10 pounds so you're just fighting a losing battle. lol!

Hello Darce, saw you snuck in briefly yesterday, just to say hope things are on the up and the house is taking shape xx

Morning everyone else, happy blogging!! Let no one bring this blog down!

*Sigh* d'you know, you just can't get the staff... posted this to yesterday's blog...

'Ow do all from a beautifully sunny (albeit cold) Yorkshire. My favourite kind of day :-) And a welcome relief after yesterday's general miserableness and torrential downpouriness!

Annie, woo hoo, congratulations! Are you a gran, a grannie or a nan? Or a nana for that matter hehe.

Deev, lovely to have someone preparing dinner for you, hope hubby did you proud!

Rips, thanks for the swan ownership fact, was really Quite Interesting.

Ah, SusanB, you bought CLP a pencil, that's so sweet!

JG, hang in there girlie, you is by no means stoopid ;-)

Jamie Cullum? What did I miss??? I love him so much, can't wait for the new album (9 Nov, it's a lifetime away *sigh*).

Scoobs, sounds like a perfick day - choccie a must though, off you go!

And from today, wahey, more bloggers! Great pics there, bless you CLP for putting us all up there (Rips, you look like you're fighting back a dirty great big belly-laugh hehe).

Right, off to do some proper work, since I've been on here for the last 40 minutes catching up!

    AF *smiling guiltily*

ps bolyngirl from yesterday #146 - very well thought out and put, I agree :-)

pps CLP, have read the first few chapters, loving it so far xx

    Morning Chris,

Glad the book signing tour is going well, but you make me feel tired just reading about everything you've done and have still to do...Phew! You've certainly made some bloggers very happy - gone on 'ya.

Do you know what, I think I'd like to find me a "mighty" Rips (don't want to make you blush Rips) but you seem like such a decent fellow and they are very hard to find these days. Do you have a brother (younger or older) that you might like to send my way? xx

Bit grey in Kent and a little nippy. I've had to result to wearing proper shoes, which I haven't done since May, and now I have sore heels that I've had to put plasters on - I hate wearing shoes!! Next comes the tights, but am putting that off for as long as poss!

Hi Pen - yes I'm OK thanks for your thoughts.

As for the house - well you can probably imagine what its like at the moment - awful!! Not a space to be had anywhere and have had to call out engineers for broken boiler, overflow gushing down and now the bath won't empty - and all that has nothing to do with the work being done!!
Its definitely going to go over budget!!

I may actually have to watch Wossy on Fwiday then, if you're going to be on it!

  • Comment number 20.

Oh, I meant to say, there's an article on Chris in today's G2 magazine. Not very impressed I'm afraid. A summary of the book including little bit too much of the writer's opinion, and not enough of the interview with Chris...

  • Comment number 21.

Hi Ali - thank you xxx

I'm putting off with wearing shoes and tights too, still in flip flops - mind you I don't have much of a choice of what to wear at the moment - can' find anything in the house!!

    Darce xx

  • Comment number 22.

Loving the bloggettes pics. Howdy all! how's everybody? Not much to report from the airport today. Interesting times though, I was going to buy the Grauniad, still think I will, not only for the G2 bit but there's dinosaur footprints in there!

Cheryl/Gingembre: I didn't get to see the blog the other day - what's happening on 20th November? Something to do with CiN, and includes Chris?

I just like to keep up to date!

    C xx

  • Comment number 24.

    Hi ya

SOOOOOOOOOOO pleased to know you're on Wossy this week!! Thanks a lot to Cherylthediva for your help with Twitter. Still haven't got it sorted but I'm going to have another go as I was short on time before.

It's great that people are getting to meet our leader but I'm gutted I'm not one of them. Hoping to catch up with you one day Christophe, just wanna tell you to your face just how happy you make my days.

Off for lunch with my best mate and to open my birthday pressies as it was the big day yesterday. Decided this year that I'm not going to get any older, I'm just going to 'revisit' old birthdays. Yesterday I was 11 for the fourth time and we had jelly and buns to celebrate.

    Love to you all. xx

  • Comment number 25.

    Morning all

Chrissie - I contacted Hells Bells hoping to get something sorted that as many bloggers as poss could take part in for CiN / Drivetime / CLP. Sadly, my idea was a non starter for perfectly understandable reasons but Hells Bells put me in touch with the guy who organises the people who take phone pledges on CiN Day. Basically, there are now 4 of us (me, Gingembre, Bagpuss and Sexagirl) going to London on 20th November to do a stint of pledge taking for CiN.

So, so excited - really cannot wait!! May have to take the day off as unpaid leave but it will be worth it. Whether we get to see CLP or not, who knows, but just to give a bit of time for such a worthy cause AND get to have lunch beforehand with 3 fellow bloggers ..... perfick!

Crazy - you're welcome! And I love the idea of going backwards with birthdays, although being Forty-Onederful ain't all that bad, most days.

Wonder if Chris has been Bingo'd yet!??!

Jakeygirl - Welcome back - don't let the b*s grind you down.
I was hoping to get in to Brum tonight with my newly arrived book but plans have been scuppered - d'oh! but will watch Wossy on Friday instead.

Heart on sleeve time ..... feel free to scroll on down ....

I felt really really pants this morning, down at heel, a grizzly auld mizzog and not my usual bouncey cheery flippant sunny self.

But I had a word with meself at lunchtime and am sticking 2 fingers up to anyone who rains on my parade.

Have also booked a lovely spa day in November for me and Himself, and a table at Aldo Zilli's Soho restaurant for over Christmas.

Deev, I guess we all need to shake ourselves sometimes (some of us more often than others eh??). Glad you managed to get rid of the mean reds - sometimes it's just something small innit? Or in your case, a spa day and Aldo Zilli hehe!

    Lovely.

    ps quiet this afternoon...

  • Comment number 37.

pps by "some of us", I meant me, not you. You hardly ever have to shake yourself, which is a good thing, I think, rather than having to shake yourself reasonably frequently, like me, which I think is not such a good thing.

    Ahem.

  • Comment number 38.

Cheryl #25: thanks for explaining - I could tell something exciting was going on! I really, really hope you guys get to meet Chris. He is something special, and I won't ever forget meeting him.

DWNB: I think Chris is actually over the moon with the blog. I have only just remembered today that he said to me that he thinks the blog is great - and I replied, as honestly as I could "yes, in the main"!

Debs & Tiggs: yes, get a game plan, if you can!

JG #28: Glad to see you here. And you know exactly what I am talking about re: Mr Evans - he signed my book ChrissieS exactly the way appears on the blog!

Margot #31: yes, it is incredible how the book signings are bringing the bloggers together - we didn't set out for it to be this way, but it is great!

I hope you guys don't mind me saying a couple of things about yesterday: first, Chris just could not believe it when Mary told him Rips was in the building! He actually stood up to shake hands with Rips, and I don't know which one was more excited! Secondly, when the photograph was taken, I was saying, through gritted teeth "I hate having my picture taken" and Chris, through his gritted teeth replied "tough"!

Ooooh, sorry to keep going on!!

AliB: Thanks for being so understanding re: all the Chris chat! I certainly don't need to get on Twitter - I have been Twittering enough all day on here!

Your book signing with Jeffrey Archer does sound quite grand - and Quinten Letts is awfully, awfully! Good for you!

The only other book signing I ever attended was with Noel Edmonds. As Hazel would say ..... that's not for here!

ps. can I just re-phrase what I said about the photo on facebook? I hate having/looking at photo's of me, the only reason I say it's a good photo is because the man himself is in it.....

  • Comment number 69.

    Sorry me again!

I keep meaning to say, meeting Chris yesterday and getting together with the other bloggers made me realise how much I miss being a part of the blog xx

  • Comment number 70.

    Hi Everybody.

Sounds like everyone who's had their book signed has had a great time. Is so good to hear that Chris is as nice in real life as he sounds. His blogs this week are just going to get longer with all the pictures he's going to have.

Wonder how the pencil collection is going?

Laters peeps. Boy1 has been detached from tech for at least an hour. I'm worried he may collapse in a minute if i don't let him have the lap top.

I don't know how many people have been to the book signings but reading one of the Scottish papers the journo who interviewed Chris reckoned he barely made double figures, which I find hard to believe!!

Sylvia: I saw the "journo" from the Sun. Believe me, he was a waste of space. I do believe that the fact he works for The Sun really tells us all we have to know.

I watched Chris very closely when he was dealing with the Press. He was patient and very accommodating. Some of them were the exact opposite.

I honestly don't know how many people were in our queue (Mary and I were No.1 and No. respectively!) but I can say that every single person he spoke to had all the time in the world to have a chat, have a photograph taken, whatever. I really do feel that Chris would have reacted the same whether 40 people were in queue, or 400.

I do not like the red-top Press!

The Manchester Evening News said only 30 people were at the Trafford Centre, but there were far more than that during the hour or so I was there.

    Afternoon each

Have put my book down for a second to pop in and say that ive just picked my nephew up from `big school` for the first time and the `Aunty Scoobs` he gave me when he saw me has fair taken me back up to that cloud 9... so shove up everyone! Brilliant!

Deevs..sounds like a great plan to cheer yourself uP!

Flower.. trust me hon when i say every single one of us has to shake ourselves more than we would probably admit..and knowing when to do it is half that battle so in my world that makes you more than half way to being very normal..and having met you a few times i reckon you are FAR more normal than me so keep smiling hon..x

Mwk..great to have you back..please stay again!

and ChrissieS.. you dont look a bit like the image i had of you! Not a bad thing..just different to the pic i had in my head!

Bingo...brilliant post.. can tell how much it meant to you to meet CLP..and lets hope something does happen eh..be great to get EVERYONE together at some point if thats even slightly possible!

Everyone else.. hope youve all had a reasonably smooth middle of the week day.the downward slope is almost here!

    mSc x

PS - one thing CLP did mention the other day is that he is DEFINITELY going to keep blogging...yay,yay,yay! x

  • Comment number 78.

JG - i saw that aswell! THink they must have been at the wrong shop!

Oh, and meant to say the other day..if the man who was behind us in the queue reads this..then `sorry we took soooo long`! We was very excited!

Wonder if CLP is ready for his Beez invasion...?!

Scooby: I know what you mean - you get an idea of what you think people will look like, and sometimes it's just not what you imagine. How I would have loved to present myself to Chris, with Cheryl Cole's face and body and said "hi, I'm ChrissieS"!!

  • Comment number 86.

    Hello All

Sorry haven't got chance to catch up properly on blog, will read over tomorrow! Just back from work and about to dash back out. So won't be back on tonight.

BUT....I just briefly read ChrissieS's posts and I have this to say...

After meeting her along with MWK and Rips I would like to say that she is one of the nicest, warmest and friendliest people I have come across in along time! Immediately you trust her implicitly and I felt as if I could tell her anything. I would have abs loved to have stayed on with Mary and Chrissie for the afternoon!

But much more than that.....the one you refer to ChrissieS.....was recently referred to on Mock the Week by one male Scottish comedian (Frankie Boyle I think he is called!) as looking more like a Twiglet every day!!! Now nothing against this lovely girl, but come on, who want to be referred to as a twiglet!! He was not being complimentary! and the thing is every time I see her, in those hair ads that's exactly what I think!! Whereas you are just as warm as toast! And if we are doing crisp references then you're my salted tortillas, with salsa, sour cream, guacomale and cheese!!!! I just luv ya!

    Helloooooooooo

feeling a mixture of embarrassment and excitement over the photo on the blog. I hate having my photo taken but just had to do it to prove I really did meet the wonderful CLP. He is as skinny as a rake so no idea why he keeps going on about losing weight and going to the gym.

I think I am on some sort of cloud too and still can't quite believe that was me yesterday. You do come over all tongue-tied though. Maybe if we meet again I won't be so overawed. Rips obviously is a natural with all the celebs he hangs out with.

Must go and cook tea - catch yous later

Scoobs, yes, I saw the bloke in the queue behind us as well, although he was grinning away, so 'spect he was alright about it - actually CLP spoke to someone on the guy's phone, so he was dead chuffed too!

Anyone heard if Beez got to Brum?

    Chris

I read the piece in the Guardian today.

Stuart Jeffries asked proper grown up questions and your answers were very honest, even if they did show that in the past you have been not quite a nice as you are now.

It seems obvious that SJ liked you and isn't better to have an article like this than a piece of ar$e licking which doesn't tell anybody anything that they didn't know and makes the subject seem shallow and superficial.

I did try to put a direct quote from yourself into this post, but it failed the profanity filter, you naughty boy.

    Evening bloggeroonies!

I'm so pleased that you're all having such a great time meeting CLP and getting to meet each other too. It seems ages since I last saw any of you. I wanted to get to Brum tonight but by the time I got in I just sat down and dropped off to sleep (can't be helped) so have missed out. I'm sure that Chris will have been a lucky man if Beez managed to get there as she's a top bird if ever there was!!!

Maybe if there is a big blog meet (as mentioned by Bingo) then I will move heaven & earth to try to get there.

Keep letting us all know how lovely it is meeting the big-man (and by that I mean tall!!) and share all the photos wherever possible.

    Luv

    Evening All,

I don't think I came out of that picture as well as the gorgeous girls and Mr Evans......
Looks like someone has stolen my trumpet mid blow!

    Still - I don't care - what a great memory!
Thanks for your over generous comments Ladies, I felt like a thorn amongst roses.
I think Scoobs should also get quite excited by them, as Glasgow is clearly in desperate need of a decent optician.....

Glad you experienced the same warmth as we did Susan.

It must be a really odd experience for Chris - to be plucked from what is his version of normality, and then chucked around like a rag doll....having thousands of pictures taken, phones thrust upon him to speak to strangers, bloggers requesting all manner of bodily contact.
......actually - not that different to normal.

Chris - Enjoy the normality and bliss that is home life tonight - I am taking the 'mighty' in the best sense and once again thank you for making it such an enjoyable experience.

    Rips

    x

PS - I don't wish to overstep any boundaries here - but Dreamurdream, should change her name to Dreamy x

PPS - Chris mentioned organising a blog meet to us, but I didn't want to mention it and jinx it - looks like it might be a goer now...WoooHooo!
