Watched my first ever...

...River Cottage last night whilst in the airstream under the stars, mega. Glass of rose - again and salmon from the barbie. After dinner flipped over to Beeb 2 for the last third of Mary Whitehouse, now there was a real crazy.

Enzo, very slow prog but a total hero, there's still hope in those eyes. Two and a half months without a single step and he still wants to be around. Love that dog.

Today, in London it's hot and wet, the worst combo. And to meet me when I arrived ? The accountant AND the bank manager, well you only live once I told 'em. They kind of agreed, kind of, anyway they've gone now...for the time being. Ha ha. Love it. Truth be told they've both been brilliant, one of them even invited me and Tash to a big posh do !

Tomorrow, an early start, as off to the telly half of the corporation. What for ? Who knows ? Watch this space, I'll let you know, promise.

What would you like to see on telly anyhow ? Not what would you "not" like to see, that's easy but what would you "like" to see ?

Don't forget you get to choose the first record on ALL REQUEST tomorrow, so come on, dig deep and surprise us with a zinger.

Also, I have found a single piece of TFI memorabilia during the move. Who do I give it to ? I think we all know the answer don't we ?

CLP.

Well had a heck of a week so far! Having landed my first 'big studio manager job' in January I have now been told it may be moving down South or I might be loosing the job! Bad times! Its this imaginary recession that been forced upon us all! So from having the time of my life doing a 400 year old house up my gorg new hubby we have this bomb shell to contend with! I mean I aint a greedy so and so! I just want what I work for and I work for it dam hard! We both do!

So what do I do? move with the job for part of the week? Hardly the best situation for a newly wed to be in!

Oh and Chris you have no idea how me and the better ahlf envy the transporter thing! We are living with the out-laws at the moment! again... Bad Times!

Good times should be on there way though???

  • Comment number 3.

CLP - well done - you do care after all :-)

careful about what you say about accountants - some of us may be part of that venerable profession

I want to see more documentaries (like child of our time) or dramas (like that one with david Tennant having brain damage) and less reality TV with or without "stars"

for ARF - I like the travelling wilberrys but I would love a party tune to get me in the mood for saturday - nolans - I'm in the mood for dancing or sisscor siters - I don't feel like dancing

    super bp x

  • Comment number 4.

I'ld like to see more brain inticing programmes, like quiz shows where you can join in at home, (without having to pay for it) and educational programes instead of soaps and reality programs.....

for ARF: The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu, KLF

Ahh Chris, something for Gingembre! You are a star, a true star Mr Evans xxxx

And what do we want to see on telly, apart from TFI of course, is you doing your stuff. Don't keep us in suspense for too long!

Back to catch up on posts later, have not long been in and have hungry animals to attend to.

    TV I'd like:

More dramas (inc the wonderful historical ones a really good saga that I could tune into each week like Cranford - forsyth saga)

A really good live music show with mixture of classical and popular music (no miming allowed).

I miss Noel's House Party - madness and a Variety show saturday/sunday night viewing.

The thing with the current Talent show shows that there are lots of really good variety acts out there which would would like to see more of without having to vote for your favourite etc etc.

    Cheers

    Hello Bloggers

Good to hear how Enzo is doing - fingers crossed for him.

What would I like to see on TV - something that's fun, light-hearted, and intelligent - perhaps a resurrected TFI !

ARF - well either Here comes the sun by George Harrison (as blogged yesterday) or
"As" - the George Michael and Mary J Blige version please.

    Dearest Christophe

I would like to see a show called "Brian's Got Talent". All about the weird and wonderful jobs that people called Brian do. Or maybe weird and wonderful hobbies that people called Brian have.

Or the "Saucerer's Apprentice" which would be all about how some people (who think they all know better than everyone else and wear badly cut suits) learn pottery.

...and yes Phoenix, some more really good drama...

Anyhoo, is lobster akshully any good for sharpening your beak on then? Or just your wit? I shall purchase one on the way home just in case.

Just for the record, it's hot and wet here too. And definitely not in a good way.

You are such a star - finding a T-shirt for Gingembre! He will be over the moon.

I have never managed to come up with an ARF of my own, but I'll give it a go: how about Livin' In a Box? Haven't a clue who sang it!

Thanks for reading our comments - I knew it was just a matter of time before you would find something TFI-related!

Don't do too much tv but a TFI-type show I would watch.

ARF: I still would like the Wandering Tilburys, but I also like Mary J Blige, George Harrison, Warren Zevon, Bob Dylan, Queen, Bob Seger, Dixie Chicks, The Band, Helen Reddy, Bonnie Raite, Chris Rea, Gretchen Wilson. Oh, stop it Anne. xx

    Fabulous one and all

Can't wait to find out what the memorabilia is that Mr Chris has found for Gingembre. Hope your first day back went well too Gingembre.

I rather like reality TV. I really get bored to death with animal programmes. Which is why I would never go on a Safari. Ok so it's a heard of Elephants.... so what.

Not enough Music Programmes on TV really. So many talented people out there too.
Be nice to see a Juke Box Jury type of thing with semi professionals singing live. Called down the Pub with Chris Evans and friends.

Can anyone tell me if I join facebook can I be Marilyn Monroe, or do I have to have a real name?

    Afternoon Christoff!!

Myself and the wee lass watched River Cottage too - try explaining to a 3 year old what he’s doing with the chickens and what offal is!! Och, but she takes it all in her stride - yer never too young to learn about the realities of life - which is why she comes with me to visit my Aunt in a secure hospital (she has Alzeihmers). Gone off fish just now, meself - must be the hormones! I always think it tastes better on a BBQ though!

Give Enzi a gentle hug from us all, the wee hero that he is! Sending prayers for speedy recovery. And talk about 2 birds with one stone, a bank manager and accountant … now that would scare the living daylights out of me!!

Looking forward to hearing about the telly side … waiting with baited breath, about time you were back on the box when you see some of the numpties we are subjected to!!!

Will have a wee think about ARF over making the dinner …. but, Christoff …. you really are an absolute star and sweetie-pie finding that piece of TFI memorabilia!!! Woo-hoo!!! A certain gent will be jumping (gently of course) for joy the night!!!

Never watched any of those find talent show/popstar/popidol anything, never watched a nancy or a joseph or a maria program, but I figure they are family friendly so dont hate them, just not my cuppa, Vicar!

Looking forward to some good telly, but I hope it's after 9pm as I don't watch much before then. More music would be good.

ARF ..lets have some hot weather sounds from Santana....please!

As for TV....the recent reality shows prove that there are so many talented people out there who have't been near drama school, signing...and lessons etc. They just haven't had the breaks, or don't move in the right circles. Wouldn't it be great to learn about more about some of these people without the hype and the humiliation?

Also there are Zillions of Visual Artists out there, many of whose work will will never be seen by other than a small circle. A semi -serious exploration of artists unknown and outside the mainstream might be a novelty (People could only take a half-hour of that tho>(Yeah you guessed it...I'm one of them).

Boy do I ache - been on my feet all afternoon with hanging basket and tub planting. Only just come back in since my cuppa half way though the afternoon.

ON TV anything which doesnt drag on for weeks with voting going on - far more comedy light hearted stuff not heavy - something like vicar of dibley just light hearted - pie in the sky - been watching the repeats - reallly good. and variety - novelty stuff which doesnt make you cringe.

ARF travelling wilburys crammed full on my ipod so any one --specially like - where were you last night

Anne - bah!! No fair :( we had summer briefly this morning for about an hour...

Hmm, what would I like to see more of on TV... well, stuff that might persuade me to buy one might be good! I think the only stuff we currently catch up on is stuff like Torchwood, Doctor Who, Top Gear, Headcases... just not interested in soaps and "stars". Would be great to have some more decent dramas on, and educational madness like Why Don't You and How To and Eureka. Then some happy Saturday night shows which are just plain happy, not competitive or showy-offy, just daft and happy and full of good bands and ... well, think Drivetime but on telly. Hmm. That would be along the lines of TFI or DFYT or somesuch....

    Mmmm foood. Foooooood.

Enjoyed the show tonight, what I caught of it! Good tunes :) head bopping away happily as the show closes.....

Nice one Chris. Well done Gingembre.

If we draw your chaps in the cup and I see a TFI shirt down at the Cottage, I'll buy you a pint.

I really must control myself with promises of drinks. That must be several hundred I owe now.....

I don't really watch TV. To be honest, I only ever tune in to 'foody' type things. One thing that some may find odd is that I enjoy watching people cooking meat and fish really well but I've been veggie for 20 years. How do you explain that? Is it some kind of culinary porn? Maybe I was a carnivore in a past life?

I think that there is room for some kind of foodie-come-music-come-chat type thingy. You know, a sort of TF Fry Friday or Don't Forget Your Spatula.

I'm curious as to why this blog 'one-line-ism', or 'Bingoitis' as it is becoming known in techie circles, is spreading. I think I was the first afflicted, although I appear to be cured, so I feel kind of responsible. I don't know how I managed to shake it off, so if you are suffering, keep plugging away, it will go eventually. Yes, even you Bingo.

ARF? I'm normally all up for a rock tune, but this week I feel just the tiniest bit psychedelic. So toss in a modern twist, and we end up with

Sowing The Seeds Of Love - Tears For Fears.

Live and direct from the 'ooh, I haven't heard that one in ages' club.

    Have a wonderful weekend all.

Helloooo out there (my first blog!)!

So been out for a warm, wet walk with other half and dog and we had a think about the question of what we'd like to see on TV. We came up with:
Firstly whatever it is - it should be entertaining (isn't that why we watch TV?), and to do that it doesn't always have to be interactive (ie voting, texting in etc) - just good quality so that the viewer becomes absorbed for the length of the programme.
As for what programme, well how about more of these:
    science fact (Tomorrow's World);
    science fiction for grown-ups but not fantasy (like Firefly);
    stand-up comedy (Jack Dee's Live at the Apollo);
    non-sensationalist documentaries on interesting/mind-expanding subjects (Equinox);
new stuff/new ideas rather than remakes (Life on Mars) and lastly.....
shows that are fun without assuming the viewers are stupid (like TFI)

Having mentioned TFI, I must tell you that cause we always had pizza at Uni when it was on, when I hear the music now I can always taste pizza - how Pavlovian is that?!

ARF - sticking with the theme - haven't heard Reef's 'Place your hands' for some time - that'd be a great start to the show....

    Hello All,
I posted briefly last year but went on a brief holiday to the desert and kind of lost the blog! I am back and cant wait to get my daily fix ( is that a little obsessive?!)

I also think Reef and Place your hands would be a great tune to start a great weekend. My hubby is away on a 6 month tour with the army but my best friends will be arriving to 'take care of me with some bubbly stuff and love' at about 5pm, so would be a great start to the fun packed weekend of great food great bubbles and the best company!

well done on the T shirt! It was the FB group that has spurred me on to start posting and join in the antics!

    ...?

Mind you, if that's on the Radio 2 playlist, I'll eat my hat.

How about Ocean Colour Scene's Riverboat Song to confuse people? >:D

I'm married with 3 kids and all this week hubby's been golfing in Ireland and kids are at Granny's. I've been (surprisingly) bored stiff!! So decided to bake to pass the time and burnt it............

Hey loads of new bloggers brill!

Mudchute Farm is, I believe, just a walk from a stop on the DLR (Docklands Light Railway Susan x) called Mudchute. It's one of those City Farms and it's right in the East End of London.

It will have to wait for another day now though. I don't think Connie is in the Sound of Music anymore is she? But it's a night out, the first in months so I shall have a good night no matter what.

Matt, I think I know what you mean when it comes to watching people cook with meat when being vegetarian. I hate, hate, hate, decorating but love those makeover programes.

Off to bed soon, pretty shattered.
    Love

Well, that's the big day over now. Didn't think it would be so difficult, but I managed to keep it together til I got into the house... I suppose I've been a bit numb since mum died, but you can't be numb forever can you.

So, big big thanks to everyone on the blog for all the support. I've been off work for the past couple of weeks and essentially I've been alone (through personal choice, I might add), and you guys have been a lifeline. Talking to people without having to talk to people.

Anyhoo, welcome josey_chicken, pearlscruggs and mrshorsfield, it's a fantastic place to be!

{{AF}} good on ya nice to know the positive vibes from everyone on here has worked for you. Excellent news.

I watched the start of come dine with me just because I wanted to see the live advert for H....A which I'd heard about. Very different and interesting.

Then watched the start of Talent and went on to the season finale of Bones - Oh wow it was good indeed - I'm note going to say what happened in case you lot have recorded it. Can't wait for the next series though.

I've had no communication from two of the agencies another asked if I wanted to contract in Andover and commute from Dorset - er no thanks.

I will have two weeks left from tomorrow and starting to get a bit panicked cos I have nothing lined up and need to pay mortgage, tax, insurance etc etc.

Right that's enough self pity.... a phoenix always rises from the ashes so this one will do as well.

Wonder if Dorset police have need of an analyst??? anyone know how I find out?

I've sent my cv off to the SunS.....ker people and hope that someone reads the emails from their website.

Bingo keep on mate you are doing me the world of good reading your mad oneliners interspersed with the rest of the blogs makes them funnier.

    Phoenix off to bed

    Bit late one and all

But just reading an email from a mate in Washington at the mo. It's been Memorial day recently. It is the norm for all Vietnam vets to drive into town on their Harley's. The roar can be heard from quite a distance like thunder.

The one song they all seem to like out there is the Doors .. Love me two times baby.. so that would be my choice for ARF.

I think I may be in trouble with Maaartin who told me to get on with my ironing!!!?
by the way second your comments about TV Maaartin could have written your suggestions myself - nothing like finishing a programme and saying "that was interesting/good/etc. move over to one side of the duvet!! - only kidding!!!
