Mickey Bradley | 14:21 UK time, Sunday, 2 January 2011

Do children still bring their Christmas presents into school when they go back after the holidays? Maybe it was only in my infant school it happened, but I felt a bit like that this week with two songs from a great box set I received from , not Santa, but my sister in law Denise. 'Where The Action Is' is a subsection of the Nuggets factory, concentrating on Los Angeles bands between 1965 and 1968. When you consider that even then, LA was a place where artists drifted towards, you'll imagine that they have a wider range of recordings to choose from than, say, Derry. And they do. Tonight features the Premiers, who will be familiar to any Nuggets owners as the people who brought you 'Farmer John'. Pronounced 'Pra-meers' , according to the chap who introduces them on that fake live version recorded in 1964, they had two brothers in their line up, Lawrence and John Perez. All the best bands have brothers - Stooges, Kinks, Ramones. "Get On This Plane' owes more than a nod to a Phil Coulter song 'I Can Only Give You Everything'. But they changed one note, which was probably enough to keep them out of court.Ìý
