Karen Birch
Karen Birch was born and brought up on the outskirts of Liverpool and now lives in the Scottish Borders. She is Chair of Glasgow Women’s Library., has been a board member of both Glasgow Women’s Aid and Co-operative Development Scotland and is a founder member of a co-operative online magazine which looks at business issues from a women’s perspective. Karen is also a sculptor who has exhibited in galleries across Scotland. Her media consumption is diverse, focussed around speech radio and Â鶹Éç on-line services and she is a keen user of TV and radio catch-up services. In particular, Karen is a fan of Sherlock and Dr Who and has been listening to The Archers since she was a student. Karen believes that the most valuable thing about the Â鶹Éç is that it is seen as a trusted source for information not only in the UK but across the world and feels that while it is important to expand across existing and emerging platforms to reach a broad audience, it is important to maintain quality and to further enhance the reputation of the Â鶹Éç.
