The 麻豆社 Trust has commissioned a review to examine whether the way the 麻豆社 distributes its content provides good value for money for licence fee payers.

The work is being undertaken by specialist media consultancy Mediatique Ltd and will look into the 麻豆社鈥檚 UK distribution activities, from 鈥榯raditional鈥 methods such as television and radio, to the growing 鈥榦nline鈥 field.

The review will consider whether the 麻豆社 is meeting its obligations for distribution, ensuring every household has convenient access to 麻豆社 services across the UK 鈥 free at the point of use 鈥 and whether it is doing this in a cost-effective way. It will also consider how well placed the 麻豆社 is to meet its future UK distribution challenges, given the ever-evolving ways in which people choose to access 麻豆社 services.

Anthony Fry, lead 麻豆社 Trustee on value for money, said:

鈥淭he 麻豆社 spends a significant amount on distribution 鈥 some 拢200 million a year or six per cent of the total budget.

鈥淚n a changing landscape, with increasing numbers of people accessing content online or on mobile and tablet devices, it is vitally important that we look at how and where the 麻豆社 is spending money on distribution, to ensure it is making the best use of its resources and securing value for money.鈥

Mediatique, who were appointed following a competitive selection process, will be speaking to those responsible for distribution within the 麻豆社 and will draw on their wider industry experience and expertise to assess how well the Corporation鈥檚 distribution arrangements are working. They will recommend how improvements can be made if necessary.

The review is expected to conclude this summer and will result in a written report to the 麻豆社 Trust, which will be laid before Parliament and published on the 麻豆社 Trust website. The full terms of reference for the review are available below.
