1. Drink it up
The sun's blazing, the drinks are flowing and you're on the streets. You might wanna carry a bottle of water with you - it can get hot out there. Pace yourself - it's a long day.
2. Hide your jewels
Don't go flashing your gold and keep your money out of sight. There are professional thieves working the streets so make sure you don't make it easy for them.
3. Stick together
Don't be that person who walks around carnival for hours, trying to find their crew. Meet your friends beforehand because phone reception isn't great and it is loud so stick close to your mates.
4. Cross your legs
You've been drinking all day and you need a leak, but you've left it late and the queue is long. Know where the toilets are and go early. We don't want to see your batty on road.
5. Don't take your ride
There's no parking around carnival and no chance of driving close to the action because the roads are locked off. Take public transport.
Most of all, have a good time.
In emergency situations
Make a note of the exact location where help is required. Look out for street names, road junctions and landmarks.
Be exact about the number of patients and their age/sex.
Explain exactly what's wrong. Do they have chest pains, are they breathing, unconscious or bleeding?
If possible get someone to signal where the ambulance staff are needed.
