Review of the Year

Last updated: 26 December 2010

On All Things Considered this week (Sunday 26 December at 9am repeated on Thursday 30 December at 5.30am), Roy Jenkins looks back on the way we have reflected some of the big events of the year.

2010 has given us a Westminster coalition, and some unpleasant indications of what the economic squeeze will feel like. Hundreds of thousands of people lost everything in natural disasters, and British troops continued to die in Afghanistan.

But the year also brought us cheering stories - the astonishing rescue of the Chilean miners; the surprising success of the Pope's visit; and the soggy triumph of Wales's first Ryder Cup.

Roy Jenkins explores these issues and more in the annual Review of the Year.
