Linda Mary Edwards - Pennant Melangell

Last updated: 24 October 2010

On All Things Considered this week (Sunday 24 October at 9am, repeated Thursday 28 October at 5.30am) Roy Jenkins visits a remote and beautiful spot at the foot of the Berwyn Mountains.

Two miles along a single track road lies the church of Pennant Melangell, one of the most impressive medieval shrines in Wales. People have worshipped here for more than twelve hundred years, but today's visitors are sometimes astonished to find as well a centre specialising in counselling and pastoral care.

For seven years until this summer, its director, who also served as priest guardian of the shrine, was the Rev Linda Mary Edwards, who's also a practising psychotherapist.
