But it is as an author that he's come to international prominence- for Paul Young is the man behind the bestselling and controversial novel 'The Shack.

And for him, the book has changed everything. For what began life as a simple gift to his children has become a publishing sensation with over 14 million copies sold worldwide.

The novel tells the story of Mack, a grieving father who after the abduction of his young daughter receives a mysterious note from God, inviting him to spend a weekend at the Shack. There through a series of conversations he confronts the anger and guilt he feels at his loss, and explores some of the most profound questions of life and faith.

It has been hailed by some as having the potential to do for our generation what Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress did for his, yet condemned by others as undiluted heresy.
