Peter Owen Jones

Extreme Pilgrim

Last updated: 07 February 2010

"All Things Considered" this week features the often labelled "Indiana Jones" of vicars, Peter Owen Jones. Although an Anglican priest and former advertising copywriter, he has become best known to millions for enquiring television programmes such as Around the World in 80 Faiths and Extreme Pilgrim. It was the three weeks in a remote desert cave for that series which prompted him to write letters whilst there to many of the people who have shaped his life, including his birth mother, his ex wife and St. Anthony. Published as a book, the letters reveal a great deal about his loves and his failures, his beliefs and his questionings, and form the narrative in a candid conversation with Roy Jenkins.

This edition of All Things Considered is broadcast on Sunday 7 February at 8.30am and repeated on Wednesday 10 February at 6.30 pm.
