Tim Rhys Evans

Last updated: 11 October 2009

On 'All Things Considered' this week (Sunday 11 October at 6.30am, repeated on Wednesday 14 Oct at 6.30pm), Roy Jenkins' guest is Tim Rhys Evans, founder and musical director of 'Only Men Aloud', the choir which is often portrayed as the bright shining hope for the ailing Welsh male voice tradition.

The choir's success last year in the Â鶹Éç television contest 'Last Choir Standing' won them millions of admirers and landed a tour to packed concert halls around Britain, trips to prestigious venues in the United States, and a private performance at Buckingham Palace. There has also been a multi-million pound recording deal. This week 'Only Men Aloud', accompanied by the Â鶹Éç National Orchestra of Wales, launch their new CD entitled 'Band of Brothers'.

It has been a head-spinning year for a group of twenty with an average age of only twenty-eight. And Tim Rhys Evans has been at the heart of it all.
