Churches and holiday makers

On All Things Considered this week (Sunday 16 August at 8.30am, repeated Wednesday 19 August at 6.30pm) Roy Jenkins packs microphone, bucket and spade, to head for Llandudno on the north Wales coast. Thousands of holidaymakers make for the Queen of Resorts each year, so Roy investigates how the local churches and an assortment of Christian organisations welcome them.

Beach missions began in Llandudno in the 1860s and as Roy finds out, they're still going strong today. He also visits a local church which has its Sunday evening service at 7.45 simply to accommodate holidaymakers. He drops in on a Christian bookshop and café, while his visit to a Christian Guest House didn't quite go as smoothly as he expected....
