Amelia Trust Farm.

In "All Things Considered" this week (Sunday 21 December at 8.30am, repeated Christmas Day, Thursday 25 December at 7.30am), Roy Jenkins dons his wellies as he visits the Amelia Trust Farm in the Vale of Glamorgan. It's owned and run by the Methodist Church in South Wales, and helps educate young people who have difficulties in a normal school setting. Many of those referred come from vulnerable or disadvantaged backgrounds, often at risk of a life of crime, alcohol, drugs and solvent abuse, and the Trust offers an opportunity for training and growth in a variety of skills within the unusual setting of a 160 acre farm.

Apart from several community workshops and projects also based on the site, Amelia Trust Farm facilities include picnic areas, nature and woodland trails and is open to the public 365 days a year.

Amidst preparations for their annual Farmyard Nativity, which attracts hundreds of people each year, the staff and young people of this distinctive farm talk to Roy about the way the place works, the importance of its role and what they hope it will achieve in the face of many challenges.
