Parish nursing

As the National Health Service celebrates its 6oth anniversary, "All Things Considered" this week (Sunday 6 July at 8.30am, repeated Wednesday 9 July at 6.30pm) looks at a pioneering development in health care.

Parish Nursing began in the United States in the mid 80's but is relatively new to the UK. Defined as "whole person health care through the local church" it aims to integrate faith and health by looking after people holistically - body, mind and spirit. We visit Risca, which is one of several places in Wales where churches have taken up the initiative, to meet its own Parish Nurse, Linda Harris.
