Cambrensis Choir

All Things Considered this week features a unique choir. In 25 years, has made scores of radio and television appearances, produced dozens of recordings and built a reputation around Britain and in many other countries. But its main impact has always been in the churches of South Wales.

Under the direction of Kelvin Thomas, the choir of 45 members has developed into a major venture, encompassing a junior choir, an orchestra, a wind band, production company and charitable trust.

Twice a year, Cambrensis creates two major events at St David's Hall in Cardiff and in today's programme, set against the backdrop of rehearsals for one of them, The Promise of Christmas, Roy Jenkins hears about the background to the choir, their motivations and the bonds that have kept them together for 25 years.
