Riding Lights Theatre Company

On All Things Considered this week (Sunday 18 November at 8.31am, repeated Wednesday 21 November at 6.32pm) we explore the work of the Riding Lights Theatre Company.

Their latest production, Salaam Bethlehem is in Aberystwyth this week and in Cardiff next month. For 30 years, the company has toured consistently in the UK and around the world

They have played the West End, the Edinburgh Festival and many other prestigious venues. But much of their time is spent on the road, performing in churches. They were born in a church in York, and while their emphasis has changed, there's still a Christian edge to their material - and sometimes it's very provocative.;p>

The work they are putting finishing touches to might well prove controversial for some. Salaam Bethlehem focuses on the plight of Palestinian Christians, living in the shadow of the wall that separates the West Bank from the State of Israel. The play is a response to their plea - Tell our story.
