Sara Afshari
On All Things Considered this week (Sunday 16 September 8.31am - 9.00am) we feature a woman who was brought up in the Iran of Ayatollah Khomeini and saw her country drained by war with Iraq.
Brought up in a Muslim culture, Sara Afshari became a communist at age 12, then an atheist student leader, and later started a school for women near Tehran.
Following a recent visit to Wales, she talks to Roy Jenkins about her faith journey which eventually led to a conversion to Christianity, her work with a satellite tv channel broadcasting across the Middle East and she reflects on the current situation in the region and its relationship with the West.
