Fox
Foxes are mostly nocturnal, and hunt alone for small mammals, birds, reptiles, insects, earthworms and fruit and vegetables, but 'socialise' with their family groups of up to 10 individuals.
They have been city dwellers since the 1930s, when semi-detached houses with large gardens sprang up on the cheap land of the suburbs, providing ideal habitat.
Sadly there isn't much information on Welsh fox populations and ecology. The urban fox distribution has substantially increased in the Swansea area and a large number of social groups are fed by locals who take great pride in 'their' animals. There have also been reported cases of foxes and cats playing regularly together in Swansea and Llanelli.
