Claire Jones, the royal harpist, will be performing for the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in April 2011.

Royal harpist Claire Jones, born in 1985 in Pembrokeshire, is one of the star turns at the celebrations for the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton this month (April 2011) when she performs at a reception at Buckingham Palace hosted by the Queen.

It is the most high-profile engagement for the young classical musician whose credits include a multitude of charting releases and great acclaim.

She said: "I'm absolutely delighted. and honoured to be asked to play at [the reception] following the marriage of Prince William to MIss Catherine Middleton on 29 April this year.

"I'm now looking forward to discussing repertoire for the reception which I expect will include some Welsh music to celebrate the couple's current connection with north Wales.

"This is an historic occasion and one I know that I know I will never forget. It's truly a dream come true."

Jones was appointed official harpist to the Prince of Wales in 2007 and went on to gain a first class degree at the Royal College of Music and an MA from the Royal Academy of Music in 2009. Her début concerto appearance came with the English Chamber Orchestra in 2008 and many more have followed.

She performed the world première of a royal commission, The Highgrove Suite, in 2010, for the Prince of Wales. The performance was released on the Classic FM label, alongside other solo tracks by Jones.

In 2010 she released Gliere: Harp Concerto; Debussy: Danses; Mozart: Concerto on Signum Classics. It was met with great enthusiasm from the audience of Classic FM.
