I have a bigger and better family now.

Transcript

"Me, my brother Christian, my Mum and my Dad - perfect family. Well, that's what I thought, but what does a 6 year old know, right? I can't even remember what happened. All I do remember is the pain, the arguments and the confusion that went through my head when one word came up: "divorce."

My lifestyle changed. My weeks got broke up into halves. Mum's in week, Dad's on weekend. It got easier but I still never got over it. Mum met someone else, he was nice, but it still wasn't my Dad. Then my Dad met someone else as well. I was devastated. My Dad wasn't the same, she tried to take over and I didn't like it.

I got older, relationships got stronger. Mum had a baby boy. Catherine, my step-mum, had two baby boys, then a girl, my sister. I had a sister. I was over the moon.

Christmas turned into two Christmases; birthdays turned into two birthdays. I felt special and luckier than all my friends. Me and Catherine now have a bond, more like a friend, someone I tell everything to. I can now see my new family whenever it suits me. My weeks have gone back to how I like it. Now my life revolves around these mad crazy kids.

Was it a good thing? I have a bigger and better family now. It is all happy and I love it."
