What kinds of questions should I ask my health visitor?
Anything. Ask us anything you want. There's no question that you cannot ask. If we can't help, then we'll know someone that can. If your question's about your child's emotional, social, or physical development, ask us. If you have questions about feeding your child, ask us. If you're concerned about their speech and language development, ask us. If you've got questions about managing your child's behaviour, ask us. If you want relationship advice - and trust me, this is far more common than you might expect, ask us.
The transition into parenthood is hard for everyone. We can put you in touch with services that can help you. You can ask us for support and advice regarding your own emotional wellbeing. Often, parents who are struggling with low mood are scared to open up for fear of opening a can of worms, but that's simply not the case. At the heart of our work as health visitors is the desire to make sure that every child thrives. We know that the best place for this to happen is at home with their parents, so please speak to us.
