Let鈥檚 face it, we all know having kids can be absolutely knackering. All day they鈥檙e full of energy鈥nd some like to party at night too! So it鈥檚 easy to feel bad if we can鈥檛 get baby to sleep. But it鈥檚 good to remember it鈥檚 not your fault. It鈥檚 a fact that some babies, as the saying goes, can 'sleep like a baby'鈥 and some just don鈥檛. Every child is different and there are lots of reasons why some sleep better than others.
Growth spurts can be a common cause of sleepless nights. Growing takes a lot of energy, so some little ones will need more feeds throughout the night鈥 and babies get ill quite a lot as they build their immune system, so they鈥檙e bound to get grumpy during the night. And let鈥檚 not even get started on teething.
Whatever the reason, there鈥檚 a few simple things you can do to help baby and you get a good night鈥檚 sleep: Aim to keep the room between 16 and 20 degrees for a comfortable sleeping environment. Try getting into a bedtime routine: bath time, night feed and then bed. Turn bedroom lights low to help teac hbaby that night-time is for sleeping. And most of all don鈥檛 worry, in the not-so-distant future they will sleep through!
