8: The castle in the clouds

Jack continues climbing the beanstalk, going higher and higher. He begins to tire鈥ut then hears the voice of the old man giving him encouragement and the strength to continue.

Eventually Jack makes it to the very top of the beanstalk and emerges into a strange, barren landscape. He finds a path and begins to follow it. In the distance he can see a building - a castle looms up before him.

Teacher Notes

This series can be used to increase pupils' familiarity with a broad range of texts and narratives, including myths, legends and traditional stories and to make connections between these and other stories they are familiar with.

It will also support a broad range of writing objectives.

Curriculum Notes

This series is relevant for teaching English at KS1, in England and Wales and Northern Ireland, and at First Level in Scotland.
