Gloucester have signed hooker Morgan Nelson with immediate effect from Championship side Cornish Pirates.

The 25-year-old joined the Pirates during the 2021-22 season and made 49 appearances for the club, scoring 29 tries, including starting all five of their games this season.

Nelson, who was born in Ross-on-Wye, grew up as a Cherry and Whites fan and went through the club's academy at Hartpury College before playing for university side Cardiff Met.

The forward said it was a "privilege" to be back at Kingsholm.

"Spending some time in the academy here when I was a youngster, the dream was always to pull on the cherry and white at Kingsholm," Nelson said.

"I feel like I've developed a lot as a player and a person from my time at both Cornish Pirates and Cardiff Met and I'm ready to make the step up and test myself at the next level."

Gloucester director of rugby George Skivington said he believed Nelson would "settle in well" due to his previous time at the club.

"We know there's plenty of talent in the Championship, and Morgan is hungry to be the next to step up and make a name for himself in the Premiership," Skivington said.
