Krisnan Inu's hat-trick helped Challenge Cup finalists Salford record their fourth win in a row as they beat in-form Huddersfield Giants.

Salford started slowly, with Leroy Cudjoe and Aidan Sezer crossing for Giants before Chris Atkin's intercept try reduced arrears.

Inu took control after the break, using his power and size out wide to score three tries in the corner.

Sezer had scored in between for Giants, whose three-game winning run is over.

Having booked their place in the Challenge Cup final on Saturday against Warrington, Salford continued their impressive form of late with another show of character.

Ian Watson's side awoke from their slumber when Atkin poached a first-half score and they continued their momentum after the break, showing ruthlessness when Giants were down to 12 men temporarily and utilising Inu's power.

Giants were well in the contest for a significant part of the game and were peerless in the first 30 minutes thanks to the skills of Sezer.

The disappointment for interim boss Luke Robinson is the way they allowed Salford back into the game at a comfortable time.

Huddersfield caretaker coach Luke Robinson: "We just don't seem to start the second halves well and it's come back to bite us. What hurts is we were in a position to win the game.

"My aim when I came into the role was to win as many games and finish as high up the ladder as possible and that's still my aim. We want to end the season with a bit of a flourish."

Salford head coach Ian Watson: "They are a hard-working group. They are gritty as a team and seeing us win late games is no surprise because they show that mentality in the way they train.

"It probably took the boys a few weeks to buy into the season but we're getting the rewards on the back of it now.

"What we're doing is sticking to the processes and it's working for us."
