Ireland won by 42 runs

Amy Hunter and Laura Delany starred for Ireland as the tourists won the second T20 against Zimbabwe by 42 runs in Harare on Sunday.

Belfast teenager Hunter followed up her maiden T20 century in the opening game by hitting an unbeaten 77 as the Irish reached 172-3 from their 20 overs.

Zimbabwe made a solid start in response but Delaney took 4-12 as they finished on 130-8.

Ireland lead the five-match series 2-0 with the next game on Tuesday.

Hunter became the only Ireland women's cricketer to score an international century in both the ODI and T20 formats with her unbeaten 101 on Friday.

And the 18-year-old continued that fine form on Sunday as she hit two maximums and six boundaries in her 77 while Gaby Lewis made 44 as they put on an opening partnership of 94.

Oral Prendergast added 37 to set Ireland up for a good total and one which proved too good for Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe opener Kelis Ndlovu top scored for her team with 55 and Pellagia Mujanji made 31 as the hosts reached 88-1.

But the wickets soon tumbled and Delany's brilliant spell was backed up with 2-27 from Cara as Zimbabwe came up well short of the target.

Both sides are using the series to prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup qualifiers in the United Arab Emirates in April and May.
