Safety Advice Line
The Safety Advice Line is a service provided by the Â鶹Éç's Safety Team. The phone line and inbox are monitored Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm. If the phone number goes to voicemail then please leave us a message whilst we're helping another caller; we'll call you back straight away.
Tel: 0370 411 0464
E-mail: safety@bbc.co.uk
Who can call us: Â鶹Éç employees and Â鶹Éç productions only
We maintain the Health and Safety Information site (which includes the Â鶹Éç Safety Standards and Guidance), support in the safety due diligence of independent production companies, and manage access to the Safety Hub (our online safety tool for documenting risk assessments, accidents, incidents and near misses, and safety assurance monitoring).
Each business area has an assigned Safety Advisor to support with operational safety, and a Safety Specialist to support with with governance and strategic improvement.
You can find out who your safety advisor is here:
Also, your query may be better addressed by other support services within the Â鶹Éç, including:
- - for property-related issues. They also handle permits for filming in Â鶹Éç buildings
- - we know you need it but how much and what type isn't something we can help with, but the Â鶹Éç Insurance team can
- Safety Equipment Store - they are separate from us so we can't help with orders or returns
- - we don't advise directly on health matters, but our Occupational Health Service Partner does
- - we can deal with most issues concerning Safety Hub and access, but if it's a network or browser issue, then you'll need to speak to IT.
Emergencies in Â鶹Éç premises
To report an emergency within a Â鶹Éç building, including summoning the emergency services (UK), contact the Â鶹Éç's National Central Control Room (NCCR)
For Ambulance, Fire or Police assistance.
When a person or building are in danger call the Â鶹Éç
National Central Control Room (NCCR)
0161 836 1666
or
0207 765 1666
Some buildings have local arrangements to dial 999 to summon emergency services locally. When that's the case use that system.
Please note: some Â鶹Éç buildings are not linked to this service, in which case you should dial "999" and ask to be put through to Police, Fire or Ambulance.
If someone requires first aid;
Contact local First Aider – Via Security (in your building) and/or Local noticeboards have details
If you cannot find one quickly contact National Central Control Room (NCCR)who may be able to assist
If you think an ambulance is required:
Contact the National Central Control Room (NCCR) and tell them that an ambulance is needed tell them where the casualty is.
If you can’t contact the NCCR, or there are different arrangements locally, then call 999.
Ensure that you inform them of the address of the building and the location of the casualty in the building.
Contact the local Facilities Managers, the local security department or reception to inform them of the situation.
Stay with the casualty until help arrives.
Â鶹Éç Emergency Information Service: the Â鶹Éç’s ‘159’ Emergency Information Service can be used to keep you informed of major emergencies affecting the Â鶹Éç, for example, major security alerts, fires or power failures at the larger Â鶹Éç buildings.
