Is there a gender pay gap in Britain and US?

Andrea Madarassy, the former Nomura banker who brought a sex discrimination case against her employer, saw most of her grounds of appeal rejected by the Employment Appeal Tribunal.

She had claimed that her bonus was unfairly lower than her male colleagues and had been affected by time off due to morning sickness. The EOC, which backed the case, was disappointed and said that "pay systems in the City are too often opaque and shrouded in secrecy".Ìý

Jenni discusses the gender pay gap in Britain and the States, with Kay Carberry of the Women and Work Commission and Diane Furchtgott-Roth, Chief economist for the US Department of Labor.
