Ìý Rebecca Harris Friday 11 April 2003 Ìý
Lady Jane Franklin was a Victorian explorer with a difference. She was feted by the Royal Geographical Society for her work on the Arctic - without ever going there.

In fact, her whole legacy of charting the region arose from her primary aim - to discover the fate of her husband, lost on an Arctic expedition, years earlier.
Rebecca Harris, who next week leads a team of seven men to the Arctic on the American Express Franklin Memorial Expedition, joins Martha to talk about the expedition to retrace the steps of Lady Jane's husband, John Franklin.
American Express Franklin Memorial Expedition begins on 18 April 2003
Woman's Hour hope to be contacting Rebecca mid-way through her journey.
