In 1903 The Association to Promote the Higher Education of Working Men was formed, but it was quickly re-named the Workers' Educational Association to avoid causing unnecessary offence to the Women's Co-operative Guild.
Now women form the majority of WEA students and employees and to celebrate the organisation's centenary, their experiences are being collated.
