Kuwaiti women are regarded as the most emancipated in the Gulf Arab region. However, they are still unable to vote or stand for election. Last year the high court in Kuwait dismissed four cases that could have led to this situation being overturned.
Dr Rasha Al-Sabah is under-secretary at the Ministry of Higher Education in Kuwait and is a member of the first delegation of Kuwaiti women to visit Britian.
She and joins Martha to discuss why it is that women in Kuwait have top jobs but are not allowed to vote.
