British woman accused of subversion in Iran
It has been reported that a British woman is amongst a group of opposition supporters that have been put on trial in Iran for alleged subversive activities. Local reports say the woman, who is 24 and a dual British and Iranian national, faces charges including espionage, participating in anti-government protests, consuming alcohol and having immoral relations with foreigners. She is not believed to be one of the five opposition supporters facing the death penalty, but she is likely to be whipped and imprisoned. The Â鶹Éç’s Tehran correspondent Jon Leyne joins Jane to tell us more. |
