Rape Jokes 10 Sept 2009
Are they ever acceptable?

Jokes about rape, or which refer to rape, are said to have become commonplace on the comedy circuit in recent years. So are such jokes ever truly funny, and who has the right to make them?
JournalistÌýand co Founder of theartsdesk.com Veronica Lee thinks the defence that this sort of humour is 'ironic' won't wash in the 21st century.Ìý Author Ellie Levenson believes it is important toÌýconsider their appeal and has included a sectionÌýon 'rape jokes' in her new book 'The Noughtie Girl's Guide to Feminism' . They both join Jenni to discuss the issues.
'The Noughtie Girl's Guide to Feminism' by Ellie Levenson, ISBN: 9781851686834
