Rollerderby
Fast, Furious and Feminist:Ìýtough girls on skates.

The predominantly woman only sport Rollerderby exploded on the American scene well over 60 years ago, and after a period of low popularity it's well and truly taken off again.Ìý There are now over 400 clubs worldwide - 25 of them in the UK.Ìý It's rowdy, boisterous and often violent.Ìý Rollerderby is a contact sport where two teams skate around a looped track, with a 'jammer' who tries to make her way through the opposing players to score points.Ìý Players are allowed to hip-shove and shoulder-barge to hamper the other team's chance of success.Ìý They call each other names like Auntie Terror, Wyrd Sister and Fox Sake and liken it to knocking eight bells out of each other before going to the pub together. Join Jane on her skates as she meets some of the London Rollergirls.
