Why do some practising Catholics choose to ignore the church’s teaching on birth control?
A recent survey of 1500 practising Catholics found that most ignore the church’s teachings on birth control. More thanÌýfifty percent of respondents had used or currently use the pill despite the Humanae Vitae publishedÌýforty years ago, which bans the use of all artificial forms of contraception. So how surprising and representative are these results and how should the church respond?
