Her latest role as the Red Queen in Alice in Wonderland

Helena Bonham Carter has starred in such films as 'A Room with a View',Ìý'Harry Potter' and 'Fight Club'. In her latest role,Ìýher head has been digitally expanded to play the scary Red Queen in Tim Burton’s new version of Alice in Wonderland. The story is a re-working of Lewis Carroll’s original tale; a 19-year old Alice falls through the rabbit hole to Wonderland, which she discovers is actually called Underland. There she meets old friends and takes on a quest to overthrow the Red Queen. Helena joins Jane to talk about her role in the film, what it’s like working with her real-life partner, the director Tim Burton, her wacky dress-sense and unusual living arrangements.

Alice in Wonderland is released in cinemas on the 5 March
