Lady Duff Gordon 18 June 2009
Lucile dresses a mannequin
Lucile and a "look book" from 1905

Lady Duff Gordon aka Lucile was the first international designer of the Belle Époque, with fashion houses in London, Paris, New York and Chicago. A formidable character, she defied what was expected of a privileged woman and earned money - she dressed Edwardian high society. An insight into this world and her part in it is showcased in a new book that presents Lucile’s Autumn 1905 fashion collection in its entirety. The book’s authors, Amy de la Haye from the London College of Fashion and the V&A’s Valerie Mendes join Jenni to take us through this rare fashion album.

'Lucile Ltd: London, Paris, New York and Chicago' is published by V&A books, ISBN: 978-1-85177-561-3
