Helping sex workers off the street

Following the murder of five women working as prostitutes in Ipswich in 2006,Ìýlocal residents questioned howÌýthese women - all on the streets to fund drug addictions -Ìýhad been quietly ignored for so long. Suffolk County Council responded by setting up a team of social workers, probation and police officers to help women trapped in street prostitution leave the trade. They’ve been working with local charities including the Iceni Project, a drug treatment centre at the forefront of the drive to helpÌýIpswich's sex workersÌýrebuild their lives. Liz Wallace went to meet one of them.
