Death of George IV & the Start of Reform
George IV died in 1830 and his younger brother became William IV. He was the first Sailor King having served in the navy for 50 years. He was 65 years old when he became King.

Wellington was Prime Minister but the general election was decisive. Earl Grey, the Whig leader was asked to form a ministry. He agreed to be Prime Minister if Parliament would accept a Reform Bill.

Meanwhile in the countryside agricultural workers were demanding nothing more than a living wage.
