Summer 2004 Competition
As you know, Will Grundy is searching for a poem that he can read to Emma at their wedding ceremony, and he's not had much success so far. So we thought we'd throw open the challenge to Archers listeners, who in the past have proved themselves to be highly creative people.
We want you to write a poem for Will. Entries will be judged on wit, technical skill and relevance to the storylines, and the prize will be a pre-publication copy of Who's Who in The Archers 2005, signed by the author.
To inspire you, here is a sample from Fantasy Archers regular "Jenny Darling":
Oh sweetest Em, it is our day
And I with you will always stay.
When I'm polishing my gun
I'll gaze at you, framed in the sun.
Please hold my ferrets in your hand
The way you stroke them is so grand.
In our kitchen, side by side
I will gut pheasants, with my bride.
Hand in hand, through field and woods,
My Emmur, you really are the goods.
Entries must be posted on the Fantasy Archers topic of by midnight on Friday 20 August.
Only one entry per person will qualify, although you can choose to replace a previous entry with another if you get further inspiration.
The poem will be published on this website, but will not be used on-air.
Usual bbc.co.uk competition rules apply.
