New Frontiers
Reports from writers and journalists around the world. Presented by Pascale Harter
Alastair Leithead is in the Sahel: the vast, often lawless, stretch of desert that extends from the Atlantic Ocean to the Red Sea is increasingly attracting radical extremist groups linked to Al-Qaeda and the so-called Islamic State.
Harriet Constable is in South Africa where the Aids epidemic has left 7.1 million people HIV positive. It鈥檚 estimated that 1.5 million children have been orphaned by the disease, and parents who've been infected struggle with how to tell their children they might be next.
As the Brexit negotiations enter their second year, Adam Fleming reveals why covering the talks has been a bit like reliving his university days - from freshers' week to regular exams.
And we visit Mandvi in the westernmost corner of India, whose sleepy white beaches belie its industrious past. This was once a thriving port, at the heart of sea and land trade routes that stretched from India to the West Coast of Africa. But some of the history remains as Melissa Van Der Klugt discovered on her journey there.
