
Why combining cleaning products can be so dangerous
Combining cleaning products to shift stubborn dirt is something lots of people often do without thinking, but mixing common household cleaners can create toxic gases or corrosive substances, potentially leading to respiratory damage, burns and even death. In the last two years, London Fire Brigade alone has responded to around 150 emergency call outs related to this.
Presenter Justine Jones meets a woman who accidentally created a toxic gas with cleaning products in her loo - and finds out how a good old-fashioned bowl of hot, soapy water is sometimes the best method.
