Chislehurst: The secret behind daylight saving time

The clocks going back marks the end of British Summer Time - but why does this happen?

The last Sunday of October marks the day the clocks go back by one hour in the UK - switching from British Summer Time to Greenwich Mean Time.

A lot of the work to implement daylight saving time in Britain comes from the efforts of a builder named William Willett, who lived in Chislehurst in south-east London.
