Palestinian and Israeli friends talk about prospects for peace
‘Basel’, a Palestinian, and ‘Yoav’, an Israeli, met 16 years ago in Canada, as part of a programme called ‘Peace it Together’. It brought 10 Palestinian teens and 10 Israelis together each year on Galiano Island, off the coast of Vancouver in western Canada. The programme lasted for 10 years before it came to an end. Yoav and Basel have remained friends ever since.
Julian Worricker speaks to ‘Basel’ and ‘Yoav’ about their time as teenagers on the peace programme, and how they see it all now. We agreed not to use their real names, and Basel’s words are read by a producer.
