‘We help others to keep our children’s memory alive’

Redditch's Maggie Underwood has ensured every local school has a defibrillator through one charity, and set up a respite caravan by the sea with another.

Maggie Rob lost three children, Charlotte, Craig and Carrick, to the same, very rare, heart condition, Vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

She tells Tammy Gooding how much it means to help other families, and save lives, in the names of Charlotte and Craig, for schools around Worcestershire, and Carrick, for people across the country.

Maggie founded the Charlotte and Craig Saving Hearts Foundation, and the charity Carrick's Retreat.

Her nominator said: 'We think she is amazing and never stops, everyone is so proud of her in her home town of Redditch'.

Maggie was crowned the winner in the community category of the Â鶹Éç Hereford & Worcester Make A Difference Awards 2024, in a ceremony at West Midlands Safari Park.
