How to spot gout
Cases of 'Victorian' illness, gout, are continuing to surge across the UK - with Liverpool being dubbed 'Britain's Gout Capital', after an almost 1,000% skyrocket in cases. Around 1 in 40 people in the UK suffer with the condition, which causes聽inflammation and arthritis of the joint. It's known as the 'disease of kings', with King Henry VIII famously having it. Experts say the recent rise in cases is down to ultra-processed foods that are low in fibre and minerals. Dr. Xand reveals the UK hotspots, explains how the first tell-tale sign is in your big toe, and how some simple food swaps can prevent future attacks.聽
