Flooded Short Ferry farmer denied relief money
A Lincolnshire farmer says he's been told that he's not eligible for compensation from a government scheme, despite being known as 'Britain's most flooded farmer'.
Henry Ward, who farms at Short Ferry, lost hundreds of acres to flooding during Storm Babet in October 2023, with further damage caused in January 2024 when the Barlings Eau breached its banks.
But Henry says the Barlings Eau isn't on the list of eligible rivers in DEFRA's Flood Recovery Fund, and although he'll receive some compensation for land elsewhere he'll get nothing for land which is still under water.
