Chen Xuyuan's prison sentence 'was not unexpected'
Former president of the country's Football Association, Chen Xuyuan, has been sentenced to life in prison for bribery, according to the country's state media.
Earlier in 2024, he plead guilty to taking bribes worth a total of 11.2 million dollars.
More than a dozen coaches and players have also been investigated, with three other senior football officials sentenced on Tuesday to between eight and 14 years in prison for corruption.
Beijing-based journalist Mark Dreyer tells Sport Today's Ade Adedoyin how and why this happened.
