Superbowl victory parade ends in tragedy

At least one person has been killed and 21 have been wounded following a shooting at the end of a mass parade for the American Football Superbowl victors, the Kansas City Chiefs.

President Biden has said the shooting at a Superbowl victory parade in Kansas City should shock and shame Americans into acting on gun control.

Mr Biden asked, "What are we waiting for? How many more families need to be torn apart?"

Police in the state of Missouri have arrested three men after at least one person was killed and more than twenty others wounded - some of them children.

Gunfire erupted as fans celebrated the victory of the Kansas City Chiefs in America's biggest sporting event. The local police chief said the motive for the shooting wasn't yet clear.

Max Dutton was reporting on the parade for KWCH-12 told Newsday what he saw.

"Lots of fans... they had this rally on the stage and moments after that rally you got almost a million people at this one section... Not even thirty seconds after the rally wraps up we heard what sounded like fireworks but I kinda knew the sounds were not fireworks. I said 'I think those are gun shots' and we could see a few people running but most people were still walking."

"Most of the people we saw within five minutes of the shooting had no clue that within feet of them there were people lying on the ground with gunshot wounds. Just an horrific scene."
